I am a mosaic artist born and raised in
New York 's beautiful Hudson River Valley.
Actually I shouldn't label myself;
I work in many different
mediums.
Mosaics are just one passion of choice.
I fell in love with the process by accident. Literally.
I dropped and broke a platter I treasured
that had been passed down in my husband’s family.
As I was adding
it to a carefully wrapped, broken
bowl that had been my grandmothers; A previous
casualty I couldn't bear to part with,
I decided to
use these pieces to make something to
treasure and commemorate the memories
of these women we so admired.
I love to use badly damaged or broken old plates in my work. I am careful not to break
anything that is valuable… though I have purchased new plates to liberate into
works of art.
I also use ceramic and porcelain tile,
broken decorative items, lots of stained glass, and any interesting bits that
end up in my jars!
Thankfully,
I have a wonderfully understanding
family, who indulge my scavenger hunts, and endless jars and piles of
artistically stacked tile and plates.
If you have a broken piece you want
made into a new treasure, please e-mail me and I am sure we can come up with
something beautiful to honor your memories as well.
From gazing
balls and garden ornaments, to art pieces for hearth and home… a bit of magic
and a measure of love go into each and every piece.
